Ryan in 1993

friends, and I plan on doing that for a long time". |
Starting at the age of 3 Ryan started playing
drums. As luck would have it a neighbor's child had
an old set that he was driving his parents crazy
with so they gave the drums to Ryan's parents. From
there it started out as simply banging away until he
discovered that there was a little more to it than
"just banging". Probably by the age of 8 he was
getting enough coordination together to actually
walk AND chew gum at the same time. After numerous
lessons with different drum instructors, some good
and some not so good, Ryan started to listen to
himself more and found that the best way to improve
was to play with good musicians. (Actually, that's
probably just an excuse because we think he just ran
out of money for lessons!!!!) Ryan is constantly
trying to develop new techniques and sounds to apply
to the kit. Most of what is developed is played on
the steering wheel of his truck as he's cruising
down the road. It's later taken to Russ and Matt
for the now familiar "nod of approval." His only
hope is that listeners can have as much fun with the
music as he does! |
